The most common hair transplantation methods are DHI (Direct hair implantation) and FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction).
On the day of the procedure, you will prepare for the operation. It is very important for the patient to wear comfortable clothes on the day of hair transplantation. During the preparation phase, the donor and recipient areas are cleaned and local anaesthesia is applied so that the patient does not feel pain or discomfort during the operation.
In the FUE method, hair follicles are extracted one by one from the donor area (usually the nape of the neck). This procedure is performed with special microsurgical instruments. If the DHI method is to be used in hair transplantation, unlike the FUE procedure, a pen called choi is used in the DHI procedure. Thanks to this pen, the grafts collected are transplanted in the same way without opening the canal. Briefly, while FUE hair transplantation consists of 4 stages, there are 3 stages in DHI hair transplantation.
For the extracted hair follicles, small channels are opened in the areas to be transplanted. These channels are prepared in accordance with natural hair growth angles and densities.
The prepared follicular units are carefully placed in the recipient incisions. This step should be done carefully and care should be taken to place the hair follicles at the right angles to achieve natural-looking results.
After the transplant, you will receive post-operative care instructions, including how to wash your hair, activities to avoid, and prescribed medications. During the healing process, the doctor’s recommendations should be followed to reduce the risk of infection and achieve successful results.
Over the following weeks and months, the transplanted hair will fall out and new hair will begin to grow. Full results may take several months as the transplanted hair follicles go through growth cycles. The results of hair transplantation become apparent over time and adapt to the natural hairline. The full recovery process may take several months.
