Hair Transplant for Women and Hair Transplant Process
The hair transplant procedure for women is similar to the hair transplant procedure for men.
Before the operation, the donor area with healthy hair follicles should be determined with the recommendation of your surgeon. Unlike men, women do not need to shave their entire head. Usually only a small area is shaved and this area can be easily covered with the rest of the hair, allowing the patient to continue her daily life without interruption.
Female hair transplantation can be applied to the upper and front parts of the scalp depending on hair loss. Especially in patients with a large forehead area, anterior female hair transplantation is preferred to reduce the hairline.
Differences Between Male Hair Transplant and Female Hair Transplant?
In women’s hair transplantation, it is critical to transfer hair from thick areas to thinning areas. Compared to hair loss in men, hair loss in women can affect the entire scalp. The limited availability of reliable donor sites can prevent women from fully benefiting from comprehensive hair transplant procedures. In addition, the balding process is different in women compared to men, which may result in more limited donor areas in women.
Choosing the right surgeon is extremely important to achieve a successful result in female hair transplantation. Candidates should undergo blood tests before the procedure to make sure that they do not have any health problems that may prevent hair transplantation.
Types of Hair Transplantation for Women
The methods used in hair transplant surgeries for women may differ from hair transplantation methods for men. Even the way the hair follicles are taken from the donor location may vary from woman to woman. There are two main methods used in hair transplantation for women. These are;
FUE Hair Transplant
Performed through a circular incision in the skin around the top of the hair follicle from the back of the head, FUE is often preferred by specialists in Turkey to harvest individual hair follicles.
Direct Hair Implant (DHI)
The direct hair transplant (DHI) technique requires the individual placement of hair follicles at the baldness site. Each hair follicle is precisely implanted using an instrument called the DHI Implanter, which ensures the widest coverage and natural results. The use of the DHI Implanter eliminates the need to make holes or slits in the recipient area.
