Visas
Many countries, including Turkey, will require travelers to obtain a visa to visit the country.
UK citizens and some Europeans traveling for medical tourism do not need one. Citizens of the Republic of Ireland are required to apply for an e-visa.
The application can be filled out online. Once approved, the e-visa can be downloaded or printed out. The visa is also not a substitute for a passport. Patients should check the Turkish government website before traveling.
The app will also ensure that you have all the right documents to travel to Turkey for a hair transplant.
It is vital for dual citizenship holders to register the passport they intend to use. If the passport shown does not match the visa, the visa and its holder will be denied.
Here’s what you need to know before traveling to Turkey for a hair transplant:
Pack Up and Fly Away
It is recommended that you stay in Turkey for about a week after your procedure. You should therefore pack accordingly.
Keep an eye on the weather to determine what kind of clothes you should bring, but in general, Istanbul averages around 20-30°C in summer (April to October) and zero to below 24°C in winter (December to March). Therefore, pack appropriately.
Also make sure you have loose clothing as you will need to wear loose clothing on the day of surgery and afterwards. Remember to have all your necessary documents with you, such as your passport, consent forms, etc.
